Fortura Tech

Internship Project

2023

This is one of my earliest projects, completed during my internship period, and it’s something I’m really satisfied with. In this project, I was able to showcase my skills as a UI/UX developer, and the end result turned out really well.

Fortura Tech is a company offering student internships and educational courses. They needed a website to showcase their offerings and promote their company. I was happy to contribute as a UI/UX developer.

Planning and Requirements

During my internship, I had the opportunity to meet the client, who showed interest in my work and proposed the idea of designing a website for their company. The requirements were fairly simple:

Additionally, I was asked to follow a specific color scheme consisting of Dark Blue, Green, and Pink. Once I clearly understood the requirements and gathered all necessary information, I began working on the landing page.

Overview of the workflow

Having good inspiration can provide a strong foundation for design work. Often, existing designs act as references that we adapt and refine to showcase our own creativity.

However, in this project, I worked without direct inspiration. I had a clear vision from the beginning and knew how I wanted to approach the design. By this point, I was quite comfortable using Figma, and I did not face many difficulties during the process.

After completing the landing page, I moved on to the courses section, where I implemented a bento layout, a commonly used design pattern. I also focused on creating reusable components to ensure consistency and scalability throughout the project. I then proceeded to design the remaining pages, and overall, the outcome turned out better than I expected.

Deliverables

For this project, I provided the client with the required design deliverables. The client specifically requested a list of components, so I created a dedicated preview page showcasing all the components used in the design. Note that all these components are reusable.

Conclusion

I completed the design process in a short span of time (2 to 3 days), and the client was initially satisfied with the final product. However, I ended up being seriously underpaid for the work. The client, who was initially full of praise, later changed their stance and described the work as only barely satisfactory and not exceeding expectations.

I was originally asked to deliver a fully functioning website, but when the discussion around pricing came up, things changed, and I was asked to provide only the design instead. I was honestly frustrated with how the situation escalated, as it felt unfair. But at the same time, I understood that experiences like these are part of the journey, and we can’t always predict how people might respond.

In the end, I was satisfied knowing that the final design turned out exactly as I had envisioned and that I had done my part to the best of my ability.
